Malta Stock Exchange publishes 2027 trading and settlement calendar

Trading dates confirmed for 2027

The Malta Stock Exchange has published its trading and settlement calendar for 2027, showing when securities can be traded and when transactions will be settled.

The calendar was issued on 14 October 2026 through Exchange Notice 2548 and covers transactions in euro, British pounds and US dollars.

Settlement period to be shortened

One of the main changes for 2027 is the move from a two-day to a one-day settlement period.

At present, securities transactions generally settle two business days after the trade takes place, known as T+2.

From 11 October 2027, the calendar provides for settlement on the next business day, known as T+1.

This means investors and market participants will have a shorter period between buying or selling securities and completing the transaction.

Public holidays included

The calendar also lists public holidays and days when the Exchange will be closed, which may affect trading and settlement dates.

Brokers, investors and other market participants can use the published timetable to plan their transactions throughout the year.
